A Greenville restaurant is creating buzz for its giant funnel cakes.

FunnelDelicious was honored for having some really unique and delicious fired food by BuzzFeed. The social news site listed the restaurant's "Mega Danny Cake" as one of the "top 25 fried foods to try before you die."

"At FunnelDelicious you dress a funnel cake with all the sugary sweet toppings your heart desires," BuzzFeed judges wrote." You can even order a cake nearly 16 inches in diameter served in a pizza box."

The Mega Danny Cake was developed out of FunnelDelicious Owner Mike Pennington's lifelong goal to get into the Guinness Book of World Records.

"I won't be world's fastest man, so why not make something that is a world record," Pennington said.

That led to experimenting with the funnel cake batter, and voila, the Mega Danny was born. The cake takes a full gallon of batter to create and only fits in a pizza box.

Pennington said Guinness Book representatives did contact him, but haven't added the cake to an official listing.

"They wanted something to go by weight – something in the hundreds of pounds," Pennington said. "That's something we're still trying figure out, not if, but how we can cook something like that."

FunnelDelicious' mammoth funnel cake received a grease rating of 1 out of 5 fryers. The top grease fest food was the hot pocket burger at PYT in Philadelphia.
