Man killed, 5 injured in I-26 wreck

ORANGEBURG - One person was killed and five others were injured, including a 9-year-old child, along Interstate 26 Monday morning.

The collision happened around 3:15 a.m. in the westbound lanes at Mile Maker 156, two miles from the Highway 301 exit.

According to the highway patrol, one of the tires on the vehicle blew out, leading the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which ultimately caused it to overturn in the roadway.

The collision killed one person in the vehicle who was ejected from the car. The coroner's office identified him as 32-year-old Theron M. Allen.

A 9-year-old, two 19-year-olds, and a 14-year-old were also hurt and had to be taken to the hospital. The driver did not receive serious injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
